Mahon Point Shopping Centre announces new EV charging
Mahon Point Shopping Centre are delighted to announce the arrival of Tesla Supercharging located in P4 car park (brown colour code). This new initiative by the Shopping Centre is one of our many projects for the sustainable use of energy and our wider improved customer offering.
Tesla owners can now charge at the new Supercharger location at Mahon Point. The site hosts four 250kW Supercharger stalls, which are open 24 hours a day, supporting owners who travel in and around Cork for local and long journeys. Cork is Ireland’s fifth Supercharger location for Tesla and the first to have access to the latest V3 Superchargers.
With V3 Supercharging, a Tesla Model 3 Long Range operating at peak efficiency can recover up to 120km of charge in five minutes and charge at rates of up to 1,600 km per hour. Owners download the Tesla app for iPhone and Android to monitor, control and get notifications when charging is complete. Alongside this we plan to install a number of universal fast chargers in the near future.
Mahon Point Shopping Centre has a very strong commitment to the sustainable use of energy and we have undertaken many projects over the years including PV panels for solar energy, energy efficient LED lighting, own water supply from our groundwater well and now Electric Vehicle charging; all contributing to expanding our sustainability ethos. From ensuring that none of our waste goes to landfill, to exploring more renewable energy sources, we are very committed to doing our bit to save the planet.
In 2015 Mahon Point Shopping Centre became the first building in Ireland to be accredited BREEAM in use certification. Since 2015 Mahon Point Shopping Centre has been assessed annually and our rating has improved over the years. (BREEAM is the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for master planning projects, infrastructure and buildings).
While it is still a work in progress as the Centre is continually identifying new opportunities, our efforts to date make us Ireland’s most Sustainable Shopping Centre.
