Mahon Point 2.0 Receives Final Planning Permission

Mahon Point is delighted to announce that Cork City Council has granted final planning permission for Mahon Point 2.0, marking a significant milestone in the future development of the area.

Mahon Point 2.0 is a major mixed-use development that will transform an underutilised brownfield site into a vibrant new destination for living, working, shopping and socialising. The plans include:

  • 251 new homes
  • Additional retail and office space
  • Enhanced public and civic areas
  • Improved connectivity throughout the wider Mahon area

The development has been designed to strengthen Mahon Point’s role as both a leading retail destination and an important community hub for the people of Cork.

Following the granting of planning permission, the project will now enter a detailed pre-construction phase. This stage will focus on finalising designs, technical planning, stakeholder engagement and establishing delivery timelines.

Construction will be carefully phased to minimise disruption to existing businesses, employees, customers and the local community. Importantly, Mahon Point Shopping Centre will continue to operate as normal throughout all future construction phases.
